Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is anticipated to wield less influence over the Premier League’s transfer dealings, regardless of retaining his managerial position.

Since his arrival in June 2022, the Dutchman has played a significant role in United’s recruitment process. This has resulted in Ten Hag bringing in players with whom he has previously worked or observed in the Dutch Eredivisie.

As the former boss of Ajax, Ten Hag has overseen the signing of 16 players over four transfer windows. The majority of these acquisitions have had prior experience in the Netherlands, with Antony, Lisandro Martinez, Andre Onana, and Sofyan Amrabat having previously played under him at their respective former clubs.

However, Ten Hag has faced criticism for his transfer dealings and has received no assurances regarding his future beyond the upcoming season.

Changes to the club’s football department by new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS associates are expected to diminish Ten Hag’s influence. Omar Berrada has been appointed as the new CEO, and negotiations with Newcastle United are ongoing for compensation regarding technical director Dan Ashworth, who has been placed on gardening leave.

Furthermore, Manchester United recently made a formal approach to recruit Southampton’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, known for his ability to identify and nurture talent. With these new leadership figures in place, it is reported that Ten Hag’s influence on transfers will be significantly reduced, according to the Mail.
