Chelsea is gearing up for another London derby as they prepare to take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. The highly-anticipated match will mark Mauricio Pochettino’s return to north London, nearly four years after his dismissal.
Pochettino admits Chelsea need to avoid risks with Reece James fitness.
Chelsea’s last league game took place nine days ago, resulting in a 2-0 home defeat to Brentford. However, they bounced back with a victory over Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup, securing a spot in the quarter-finals.
In keeping with the rest of the season, Pochettino faces several injury concerns as he returns to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Wesley Fofana, Ben Chilwell, Romeo Lavia, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Trevor Chalobah are all ruled out.
Winger Mykhailo Mudryk is hoping to make his return to the side after missing the last two games. The Ukraine international resumed full training on Friday, and Enzo Fernandez dispelled doubts about his fitness with an 87-minute appearance mid-week. Summer signing Christopher Nkunku is not expected to return before the international break, placing the onus on Armando Broja to provide an attacking threat after missing several games.
Nicolas Jackson made his return against Brentford last week and is likely to start. Additionally, captain Reece James is in contention to continue his return to full fitness.
