Troy Deeney has provided a suggestion to Ivan Toney, advising him to choose Chelsea over Arsenal. Despite currently serving a ban from football, Toney is highly sought after as one of the Premier League’s most coveted strikers.

The 27-year-old forward was strongly linked with a move away from Brentford at the end of the previous season. However, his transfer was canceled after he received an eight-month ban for breaching Football Association betting rules in the summer.

Even though he has not played in the Premier League since May, Toney continues to attract the interest of several top clubs in Europe. He will be eligible to return to action on January 16, with his first competitive game back for Brentford scheduled for January 30 against Tottenham.

During his time away from competitive football, Toney has been working on building his fitness. In a friendly match last month, he marked his first-team comeback with a goal as Brentford drew 2-2 with Como. Despite the risk that his abilities may have declined during his absence, Brentford has reportedly placed a £100 million price tag on him.

Although the fee is substantial, Brentford’s manager, Thomas Frank, has expressed his desire to keep Toney, who is content at the Gtech Community Stadium. He stated that Toney is happy at the club, and while it’s uncertain what the future holds, he hopes Toney will remain with Brentford.

In contrast, Troy Deeney has recommended that Ivan Toney choose Chelsea over Arsenal if given the opportunity. Deeney believes that Toney should join a project that is an ideal fit for him, and Chelsea, in his opinion, offers the best fit. He emphasized Chelsea’s need for an out-and-out striker and suggested that the club could meet Brentford’s asking price.

Deeney acknowledged that some might argue that Chelsea is in a challenging situation at the moment, hovering around mid-table without European football. However, he believes that elite strikers possess a unique mindset and arrogance that would drive Toney to prove his worth to the team and demonstrate that he is the “Guv’nor.” Deeney mentioned that the going rate for a top player nowadays is around £100 million, and he suggested that Chelsea would be a suitable destination for Toney, despite the club’s current situation.
